I'm 30! (and Mother's Day & Brecken's 2 Months)

The big 3-0! Thirty years old. When you're little 30 seems so old, so far away. But I don't feel old, well maybe I feel a little old.  When I want to go to bed at 8:00 or when I see high school/college kids dressed up to go out.... yea I guess I feel older.  But I'm not old! 30 is a perfect age. My babies are young and I love watching them grow (although it goes way too fast).

To celebrate turning 30 Doug took us to Kansas City.  I was excited to be doing something to celebrate, but taking a 3 year old and 4 week old to stay in a hotel had me a little worried.  It turned out ok, although I wish Brecken would have slept a little better the first night we were there (I realized Brecken is definitely dairy intolerant on this trip which was the reason for him not sleeping -but that's another, very long, story).

We packed so much fun into a few short days and I can't wait to go back with Brecken is a little older and can run around and play with Camber.

Before we left for Kansas City Camber got Brecken to smile multiple times which just makes my heart melt into a little puddle of love!  I love watching Camber with his brother.  He is just the sweetest.  I knew he would be a good big brother, but I didn't realize that he would truly love him instantly. It's the best thing to watch!

We went to this Dinosaur experience restaurant (it is very similar to the Rainforest Cafe, except it is all dinosaurs).  Camber got to make a build-a-bear dinosaur while we were waiting to eat.

Doug had a little too much fun

And Camber was terrified that the dinosaur was truly going to eat him.  Way to go Doug!

Our beautiful little family of four.

Camber LOVED LegoLand (and so did Doug)

One of the best parts of the entire trip was this little restaurant. It delivered the food on a model train on tracks on the ceiling and then your box of food was dropped on your shelf and lowered to your table.  It was the coolest thing!

Even before Brecken was born Camber would ask for the baby to be able to sit with him in the car.  Once Brecken came he was obviously in the back with Camber, but on opposite sides of the car. Doug put Brecken in the middle of the truck so they could be close and Camber loved it.  He is so responsible and will give Brecken his binky back or wipe his mouth when needed.  And he even holds his hand while he sleeps.

Camber loves his cousins.  This was from the Farmer's Market at Valley Junction.

The weather has been so nice this spring (except for the days and days of rain).  Camber loves to play outside and Brecken loves spending time outside too.

Everyone does dishes in their underwear right?!

I've said it multiple times that I wish babies would come out smiling.  I love when they finally recognize their family and smile at people! My favorite is when Camber gets Brecken to smile.

Massage time! We learned some baby massage at Amy's class and both Camber and Brecken seem to enjoy it.  Camber usually helps me massage Brecken, but also like it when it's his turn.

This little boy LOVES his bath time!!

For Mother's Day (weekend) Camber and I had our date. We went to the pancake breakfast.  We had to wait in line for a while, but Camber did pretty good.  He loved riding in the old fire truck and climbing up on the big fire trucks.  He thought he wanted to try out the bounce house, but once he got in with the big kids he got a little nervous.

After the pancake breakfast, Camber went with Doug to a car show that Doug sponsored while Brecken and I headed to Boone to see De's side of the family.  Everyone got to love on Brecken.

On Saturday evening we went and bought flowers and visited Doug's mom and grandma.  We had a picnic dinner in the back of Doug's truck and then visited their graves.  We then went and saw the swans at the pond.  Camber had remembered the "water and birds" from last year and was excited to see them (despite our attempts to skip that part).

On Mother's Day we relaxed at home for the morning and naps.  Then my Mom, Grandma and Lori (and family) came over for dinner. It was great weather and Camber loves playing with his cousins!

Brecken is just getting so big! I love seeing him change and grow, but can't believe how big he is!

Camber looking out the window :-) He likes to watch the birds that have built a nest in our gutter.

Camber:
-Camber hates going to bed by himself.  He wants us to sleep with him "aaallllll night." Doug ends up with Camber most nights; I am not sure who likes the snuggles more.
-For bedtime we read two stories, tell Jimmy-Johnny stories, say prayers, and snuggle for "3" minutes.  A jimmy-johnny story has just recently been added.  These are made-up stories about adventures these two boys go on.  My mom always told them to me and Camber is loving them.  They work great for things that are coming up or even just silly things. Some of Camber's favorites lately include: Jimmy and Johnny go to the Dr and Jimmy and Johnny go camping and jeeping.
-Camber continues to LOVE and ADORE "his baby."  He runs to the car when I pick him up from daycare to check on his baby.  He told Brecken yesterday, "Mine miss you whole bunch when mine at Jill's"  (he says my/mine instead of I/I'm).
-Camber is a home body. If you ask him what he wants to do on the weekend he says, "Mine play at home all day."  He does get excited to go places, but is very content just hanging out at home.
-Camber will be starting summer preschool next week.  He will go 2 or 3 days a week.  He is going to be in the Bumble Bee class and he is really excited to go.  When we went on our tour he was excited about all the toys. A couple weeks ago he did say, however, that he was sad because "mommy and daddy can't stay with me at preschool."  I am sure there will be tears those first few days (for Mommy and Camber both).

Brecken:
-Brecken is such a sweet baby.  He calms down easily if he does get upset.  The only time he really cries is if he is hungry (and I'm not moving fast enough) or if he is cold. He is so patient though, and gives me lots of time before he gets mad.
-Brecken is kind of a mama's boy.  He obviously spends a lot of time with me so when he gets overwhelmed he definitely wants his mama.  I also have his food, which may be a bigger contributing factor. Ha!
-Brecken LOVES his brother! When Camber gets into the car after daycare Brecken will hear Camber's voice and just start smiling, without even seeing him.
-He is currently on meds for acid reflux as he was choking/gasping during sleep.  He also has some intolerance to dairy so I am completely dairy free now. I can't wait to be able to eat some cheese again :-)
-Brecken had his two month appointment today and weighs in at 12 pounds 4 ounces (48th percentile) and 23 inches long.  His big head is at the 94th percentile :-)

It's been quite a month and I say it every time I write, but I just can't believe how fast it goes.
Life is good, it's anything but perfect as we deal with temper-tantrums, sleepless nights, whining, crying, but we wouldn't have it any other way. :-)
